Nearly seven years after releasing ‘Zionism & the Black Church’, author Dumisani Washington shares the second edition. All six chapters have been expanded and updated.

CHAPTER 1 - OUR BIBLICAL TIE TO ISRAEL explores the ancient connection between Israel and Africa, what Zora Neal Hurston called the “universality of Moses,” and the Israelite ethos woven into the Negro Spirituals first sung by Black slaves in the U.S.

CHAPTER 2 - THE ISRAELITE DIASPORA includes more detail on the Mizrahi Jewish community, the Igbo of West Africa, and the Lemba of Southern Africa.

CHAPTER 3 - ZIONISM & THE HISTORIC BLACK STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM is a discussion of how biblical Zionism has inspired many Black leaders in their political and cultural quest for liberation, and how is still does today.

CHAPTER 4 - THE PRO-ISRAEL, PRO-PEACE LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. includes mail correspondence between Dr. King and Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion on the planned, “mass pilgrimage of the American Negro to the Holy Land,” and the formation of Black Americans to Support Israel Committee (BASIC) in 1975.

CHAPTER 5 - ANTI-ZIONISM: HATRED FOR ISRAEL is a discussion of the dangerous rise and normalization of antisemitism among some in the Black community including Louis Farrakhan, portions of the Black Hebrew Israelites, and the leaders of Black Lives Matter. It also includes the growing, grassroots pro-Israel movement in Africa and what that will mean for Black Americans.

CHAPTER 6 - WHAT WE MUST DO NOW is the unveiling of an education-based approach that will help restore the Black-Jewish relationship in the US, and further strengthen the Africa-Israel alliance. It explains why, despite the present challenges, there is great reason to hope and expect a very bright future.
